Workshop Description
Working with Qigong and other meditative practices, voice faculty can help their students lessen anxiety and stress, particularly stress related to stage fright, and instead, promote wellness and mindfulness. This workshop, open to all, will introduce embodied meditation through Qigong, one of the main branches of Traditional Chinese Medicine, examining how just a few minutes of daily Qigong practice (even at the start of a lesson) can release tension and increase energy and focus. We will also explore how still meditation, with attention on the movement of breath, can enhance our students’ self-awareness and emotional control.
