Miracle Ogbor - Decolonizing and Enriching Opera

This project titled “Decolonizing and Enriching Opera” highlights and discusses the work of the Nigerian classical music composer Dr. Ayo Oluranti with libretto by Miracle Ogbor. It features a newly adapted version of the classical Nigerian folktale Òmò Ágbé tò ti di Olòrin (The Farmer’s Daughter Becomes a Musician). This performance will showcase the use of the Yoruba language of Nigeria for the songs sung by the soprano soloist (me) intermixed with English dialogue and narration.
